Pan-Yoruba Group, Afenifere Endorses Jonathan

The Yoruba socio-political group Afenifere has endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan’s bid for a second term in office. It gave its endorsement at a meeting of its members with the President at the residence of Afenifere leader, Chief Reuben Fasanranti in Akure on Tuesday. Jonathan told reporters as he left the meeting place that he had come to pay homage to the leader of Afenifere. Spokesman for the group, Yinka Odumakin, told reporters after the meeting that the endorsement was predicated on the President’s commitment to implementing the recommendations of report of the National Conference 2014. “Afenifere supports the President’s reelection because he had the courage to convoke the national conference and we hope that he will implement the report. “The President expressed the commitment that he will adopt the report within 12 months of returning to office,” Odumakin said. Governor Olusegun Mimikon, who spoke after the meeting, said “This is the first time Afenifere will be endorsing any President.” He said Afenifere remained a credible and dependable socio-political group in the south west http://www.punchng.com/news/afenifere-endorses-jonathan/

New facts emerging are putting into dispute the official age given by the President of Nigeria on his public service documents. Accounts from the president himself and others who dare to provide information suggest that contrary to his stated age—being born on November 20, 1957; the president was born several, perhaps 10 years earlier and is over 60 years old. The residents of Aiyelabegan Compound in Agbaji District of Okemale Area in Ilorin has called on the Emir of Ilorin Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari and the various security agencies in Kwara state to call the supporters of Senate President Bukola Saraki to maintain the peace for which its neighbourhood has always been known for. Kwara worker commit suicide over unpaid salaries

A staff of Universal basic education (UBE) in Kwara state has reportedly committed suicide over unpaid salaries. The news was broken by a group, Kwara Must Change which said it regretted to bring to public attention, the death of Mr Biodun Bashir, a staff of Universal Basic Education (UBE) in Kwara State at Oyun Local Government, who recently hung himself to death over failure of Kwara State Government to pay workers salaries and their continues denial of owing workers.
