We Will Vote Jonathan Despite Our Regrets In Voting Him In 2011 – Middle Belt

The people of the Middle Belt said they regretted voting for President Goodluck Jonathn during the 2011 general elections. They said that in spite of their support for the President, they had nothing to show for it. The Middle Belt people, however, said despite their disappointment, they would still vote for him again in the February 14 general elections. In a communiqué issued after a summit of the Middle Belt Dialogue in Jos which drew delegates from the Federal Capital Territory, Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Gombe, Kaduna, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Taraba and Yobe states, the region said, “There is general anger and disappointment in our communities against the Jonathan-led Federal Government as a result of the sad reality that despite the huge political investment by our people for the purpose of electing him in 2011, there has been no commensurate political patronage in terms of projects and appointments.” The communiqué, which was signed by the facilitators of the summit – Messrs Aminu Zang, Lanre Obafemi, Rima Shawulu and Mark Jacob – read, “It is obvious that as a result of the huge political investment of our communities in 2011, our communities have been exposed to unimaginable genocide and consequent untold hardship, while governments at the state and federal levels have appeared indifferent to the suffering of our people. “As a result of the genocide, agriculture which has been the mainstay of the Middle Belt and a major source of economic stability of our people, has been disrupted thereby laying the foundation for food insecurity in the country at large.” www.punchng.com/news/we-regret-voting-jonathan-in-2011-middle-belt/

Group raises alarm, as flood takes over Oloje community in Ilorin

Kwara Must Change is hereby alerting the state government and the general public that flood has taken over oloje community in Ilorin west local government area of Kwara state. This is as a result of lack of drainage system to control the Atake river in the area and numerous appeal to government over the years have fallen on deaf hears. There is no drainage system in Oloje community and as a result, Atake river has always flooded the community, sometimes claiming lives in the process. Kwara Must Change members in the area can recall at least, four lives that have been lost in this unfortunate situation. The last one was very pathetic. A young man of about twenty years old, who is the only surviving child of his parent lost his dear life to the flood, thereby throwing the entire community in mourning. An activist friend of mine, IG wala has declared his intention to contest the 2015 election under the platform of the PDP in his state, Gombe. And ever since his declaration, some people have littered the social media space with all sort of uninformed posting, condemnation, questioning his decision to join a party that has destroyed Nigeria since 1999 as if the PDP is the name of somebody.  To the best of my knowledge, Nobody is called PDP, we only have PDP members.
