DO YOUNG NIGERIANS REALLY HAVE RELIGION?

I have a female friend who happens to be a Muslim, but in the next few minutes, she could suddenly become a Christian. According to her, if she eventually marry a Christian, she won’t mind becoming a Christian. In her view, its easy to be Christian, all you need is attend church once a week and dance yourself out, unlike being a Muslim that you need to be praying 5 times daily. Also, I have a Christian lady who said she likes me, but upon telling her jokingly that I would have dated her if she is a Muslim, she suddenly want to become a Muslim. A Muslim friend (Abdulsomething) at one time suddenly changed his name to (brother something) because he wanted to date a Christian lady. He went to Redeem church with her several times claiming to be converted. Similarly, Another Christian guy who wanted to marry a lady in IIorin had to convert to Islam to achieve his aim. The question is, Do Nigerians really have religion? If yes, what is the motivation behind our religion? Are we in our present

BUHARI AND JONATHAN LACK MORAL INTEGRITY

Image
BUHARI AND JONATHAN LACK MORAL INTEGRITY TO LEAD NIGERIA DECLAIMER AGAINST GEJ AND BUHARI I would like to dissociate myself from general Muhammadu Buhari and president Goodluck Jonathan respectively, these two (2) leaders should not be associated with me in anyway. Their conduct is against my principle and in my opinion, they lack moral integrity needed to lead a great nation like Nigeria to tranquility. I have observed that, most Nigerians do not bother about the moral obligations of those who pilot the affairs of this nation, but I Abdulrazaq O Hamzat place much emphasis on morality and I refuse to be associated with those whose moral integrity is in question. These two leaders (GEJ and Buhari) are suppose to serve as worthy examples to be emulated by we the younger generations, but because of their political desires, they compromise their morality for political gains. For reference purposes, let me place it on record that In the build up to 2011 general election, President Goodlu

Oba Abdulraheem, a misguided professor

First published in November,2013 Sequel to requests by friends on social media asking my view about the  ongoing crisis between Dr. Bukola Saraki, the son of late Kwara strong  man Dr. Olusola Saraki, and the boss of Federal Character Commission  (FCC), Professor Abdulraheem Oba, I deem it quit proper at this point  to air my view on the saga.  Worthy to note is the fact that, I hardly comment on personal  political issues, especially between erstwhile partners. However,  several calls and unfolding events in the state challenged me into  breaking my silence to put this piece together. Since the commencement of the crisis, several reports emanating from  both camps have littered the airwave, but what caught my attention  mostly was a report credited to professor Abdulraheem Oba, were the  federal character boss said and I quote, ‘’if he (Bukola) made you, he  didn’t make me because I’m already at the peak of my career when he  (Bukola) was nobody.’’ According to

BABA AND JONA (Part 2 )

Image
BABA AND JONA (Part 2 ) By: Kehinde Ayoola J P Squadron Leader Priye Horsfall had stepped aside to allow the old soldier enter the helicopter first. But baba, who usually walked with a sprint in his steps, had been tentative this morning. He did a sharp left turn to see baba standing at the foot of the chopper. He looked at baba in 'amused confusion'. The old man's expression was blank as he gave the giant metal bird a thorough lookover. " This is a beautiful chopper" he finally said. "Thank you sir!" Priye replied. Baba climbed in, sat down on one of the 5 seats and belted up. His aide, a middle-aged man with a with a lanky stature and balding forehead, took the next seat by his side. Priye's assistant pilot, Flight-Lieutenant Memunatu Kabba, saluted baba as well. She is a tall, dark lady with bright eyes. She is the kind of person that one wonders what she was doing in the military. She could easily make the cut as an A-lis

Which ex-president before Buhari left office richer than Buhari?

Kehinde Ayoola J P, former Oyo state speaker wrote on his facebook:    A FRIEND, Barrister Folarin Sode, got me thinking yesterday. His dad had asked him which of Nigeria's former leaders pre-Buhari left office richer than Muhammadu Buhari? * Tafawa Balewa was a poor teacher before he came to office and he lived the life of an ascetic while in office. Today, his children are not known to have shared any wealth he accumulated while in office. * Aguiyi -Ironsi died poor. He was said to have left 10 pounds in his account. (I remember reading an i nterview granted by retired Maj-Gen Adeyinka Adebayo some years ago where he said he wrote a note to Victoria Ironsi to send her children to him so he might put them in schools). * Yakubu Gowon, my main man, is not known to be wallowing in any obscene wealth today. In fact, the Plateau State govt of Chief Solomon Lar had to convert a government guest house in Jos for his use when he returned from exile in 1982. Till today

I HATE 2ND TERMS, former Oyo speaker

Kehinde Ayoola J P, former Oyo state speaker wrote on his facebook page: I HATE 2ND TERMS. It is a bean-picking, come-easy-go-easy, insipid, uninspiring term with no motivation at all for the incumbent. He already knows he won't need to come to the people for any vote again, at least for that office. So, he does as he likes. It has been difficult to pick out any governor whose 2nd term was better than the 1st. OBJ spent his own 2nd term, naively supported by Lam Adesina and the AD governors (they became the asses that OBJ rode to power), doing ju st two things. These two things had nothing to do with the masses of Nigeria. These two things were: (a)Fighting his Vice, Atiku Abubakar and (b) pursuing a 3rd Term agendum. So, I think the people should make it harder for office holders to get second terms. Politicians always manage to shoot themselves - or ourselves - in the foot each time we undergo Constitutional amendments. Well, next time they should try and sh

The first class of Mandela Washington Fellows arrived in June 2014 for six weeks of intensive executive leadership training, networking, and skills building, followed by a Presidential Summit in Washington, D.C.   Through this initiative, young African leaders are gaining the skills and connections they need to accelerate their own career trajectories and contribute more robustly to strengthening democratic institutions, spurring economic growth, and enhancing peace and security in Africa.  Selected Mandela Washington Fellows should be prepared for an academically and professionally challenging program. The Fellowship is designed to encourage and foster the ingenuity, confidence, passion, and commitment of the next generation of African leaders.  It offers young leaders an unp

Buhari purchased APC presidential form with bank loan

Buhari meanwhile, yesterday procured the party’s N27.5 million expression of interest and nomination forms at the national secretariat. Lamenting what the costs of the forms were high, he said that it took the understanding of his bankers in Kaduna and Abuja to raise the money. “It’s a pity I couldn’t influence this amount to be put down as in the case of ladies and the disabled that intend to participate. I always looked left and right in our meetings but I could not read sympathy, so I kept my trap. “But I felt heavily sorry for myself because I don’t want to go and ask somebody to pay for my nomination forms, because I always try to pay myself, at least for the nomination. “N27 million is a big sum, thankfully I have personal relationship with the manager of my bank in Kaduna and early this morning, I put an early call (and) I told him that very soon the forms are coming, so, whether I am on red, or green or even black please honour it, otherwise I may lose the nomi

Over 1000 bokoharam arrested in Southwest

Image
Mr.rights have learnt that,  Speaking when the Arewa Council of Chiefs in the South West paid a visit to the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, in Abuja, Alhaji Kabir said the arrests were made at different times. He said that those arrested were Boko Haram members who fled from the Civilian JTF/military onslaught on the insurgents in the North East and those who came to the South West to further the insurgency. Kabir said the Council has taken it upon itself to ensure that Boko Haram did not take root in the South West because according to him, such a development would complicate the security challenges facing Nigeria. He said, So far in the South west, we have peace and this is achieved through the collaboration of Arewa people and Arewa chiefs. If you can confirm with the security agencies, we have arrested more than 1,000 Boko Haram members throughout the south west states. We promptly report any suspicious m

Well, in a recent chat with Reuters, the Man of God, debunked such rating, saying he has no idea, how Forbes got to the conclusion: “For me, to have fortune means someone who has what he needs at any point in time. I don’t see myself as having $150 million stacked up somewhere. Whatever way they found their figures, I am only able to say I am blessed by the Lord.” And on whether churches should pay tax, putting into consideration how much money they make nowadays, the Bishop had this to say; And on whether churches should pay tax, putting into consideration how much money
