The management of the University of Ilorin has debunked media reports that one of its students, Mr. Adigun Emmanuel Adewale of the Faculty of Agriculture, who committed suicide last Thursday (November 29, 2018) resorted to the unsavory action to ventilate his frustration over his failure in his final year project. National Open University N20,000 re-mark fee ‘extortion’ — Students

The students of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) have accused the school of extortion after the institution announced a N20,000 fee per course to remark their missing examination scripts. According to the announcement on its website, the school will set up a three man committee to re-mark the scripts after receiving the payment. “The 3 Man Committee will be made up of the Head of Unit and two other experts other than those that marked the Script initially. Re- marking shall be completed within two weeks and returned to the University Examinations Committee by the School,” the school said. “The new score awarded shall be approved by the Dean of the School on behalf of the School’s Academic Board which brings it to the notice of the University Examinations Committee.” The school, however, failed to justify the N20, 000 fee it made mandatory for the students. 12 people, including women and children dead, as canoe capsized on River Niger

Mr Rights has learnt that a canoe carrying 18 passengers yesterday, 1st December 2018, capsized in River Niger, Choppy water, at Edu local government area of Kwara State, Nigeria. An eye witness told Mr Rights that, the incident happened around 10am, as the canoe was carrying people from Edu local government area of Kwara State to Niger State. According to the eye witness, not long after the canoe left Central Chewuru port in Edu local government of Kwara State, the canoe capsized and only 4, out of the 16 passengers made it out alive.
