A Third Alternative to PDP and APC – By Senator Ben Murray-Bruce

A Third Alternative to PDP and APC – By Senator Ben Murray-Bruce Months after the 2015 elections ended, Nigerian youths are still hung up on those elections. Nowhere is this more obvious than on social media which our youths have turned to a battle ground divided into pro People Democratic Party (PDP) and pro All Progressives Congress (APC) youths. So ingrained is this animosity that each group targets elected officials and party chieftains of the opposing parties and go after them just on the basis of their party affiliation. Things reached a comical stage when a youth attacked me for a tweet on Twitter and hours later was praising a popular youth for his tweet. Unbeknownst to him was the fact that the youth had merely tweeted my exact words but had not credited me with the quote! These shenanigans makes me concerned for our youth. Where they should be getting closer and breaking down barriers, they are holding a candle for politicians who in reality are not as divided as they lead

On New NSA, TRUST BUHARI ON NATIONAL SECURITY

TRUST BUHARI ON NATIONAL SECURITY Abdulrazaq O Hamzat The recent appointment of a new NSA, Major General Babagana Monguno by president Muhammadu Buhari has got many people talking. Since the announcement of Monguno yesterday as the new NSA, i have read countless reports about issues needing response. Some of those reports include articles written about him as far back as 2011. They are allegation which cannot be easily overlooked, but i do not intend to bore you with those allegations here. What is important is that, till date, no valid explanations have been given either by the past administration which he served under as Chief of Defence Intelligence, CDI or by him personally. I want to believe that, the outcome of the investigation carried out by last administration have vindicated him before now, though, it was not made public. While i agree with those asking questions about his character, i feel that the president who appointed him to his new position have more information ab

The hottest artist in Africa

Is Olamide the hottest artist in Africa? Find out Few days ago, I saw a publication on nairaland which described Olamide as the hottest rapper in Nigeria. The hottest rapper here doesn’t necessarily mean the best rapper as that would take eternity to decide. What this means is that, the hottest rapper is the most accepted, most wanted, most relevant in term of making hit songs and the one who is being higly sort after by others. That is our defination of hottest. In the said publication, the writer listed 5 hot rappers in Nigeria and declared Olamide as the hottest. Other rappers listed along with Olamide include Reminisce, Phyno, Ice Prince and M.I Other commentators who disagreed with the writer quickly draw their own list of the 5 hottest rappers. In all the list made, what was constant in every commentators list was that, every one put Olamide on number one spot. I carefully read through all the lists and no one felt the number spot should go to anyone other artist other than t

5 THINGS NIGERIAN GOVT MUST MAKE ITS PRIORITY

The purpose of government is to help people live better. In the quest of governments to deliver the much needed good governance, they sometimes embark on all sorts of projects to better the out look of the society. In the course of some of these projects, government often victimize, DE-humanize and sometimes out rightly destroy people lives, families and means of livelihood. They call it collateral damage. There are just too many examples of such instances in Abuja during era of Mallam Nasiru Elrufai as Fct minister. In Lagos, during Fashola’s tenure and many others. In their justification of such engagements, they argue that, nothing good comes easy. If we want something good, we must be willing to pay the price. To them, the affected citizens whose life have been completely destroyed as a result of such projects are the prices we must pay to build a better society. For me, destroying other peoples live is not a way to development. While it is true that, the cleared area would b
