TRUST BUHARI ON NATIONAL SECURITY Abdulrazaq O Hamzat The recent appointment of a new NSA, Major General Babagana Monguno by president Muhammadu Buhari has got many people talking. Since the announcement of Monguno yesterday as the new NSA, i have read countless reports about issues needing response. Some of those reports include articles written about him as far back as 2011. They are allegation which cannot be easily overlooked, but i do not intend to bore you with those allegations here. What is important is that,till date, no valid explanations have been given either by the past administration which he served under as Chief of Defence Intelligence, CDI or by him personally. I want to believe that, the outcome of the investigation carried out by last administration have vindicated him before now, though, it was not made public. While i agree with those asking questions about his character, i feel that the president who appointed him to his new position have more information about him than we do. Irrespective of the concerns we have, we should trust the judgement of our good president. Like a commentator on nairaland had rightly said, ''Whatever is the allegations against this man, I trust the judgement of my PRESIDENT on issue of national security.

By Abdulrazaq O Hamzat Many years after Rwandan genocide of 1994 between Hutu and Tutsi which claimed over 1,000,000 lives, certain revelations were made as a result of critical analysis of the incident. It was revealed that, going by the media reports in 1994, the Rwandan genocide was often portrayed as a conflict based on ancient hatred between people who had been killing each other in such a manner for hundreds of years. However,those media reports were greatly misleading and proved incorrect after critical analysis. Hutu and Tutsi were not ethnic groups, but economic/political class divide. Investigation shows that, throughout history, the great lakes region had never encountered any ethnic violence between Hutu and Tutsi and there was no pattern of inter communal violence ever witnessed between Hutu and Tutsi and nothing approached or even suggested the level of violence of the 1994 genocide. Police detain Edo Speaker over lawmakers attack   Mr.rights have learnt that, the Edo State Police Command on Thursday arrested the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Uyi Igbe, and the Majority Leader, Philip Shaibu, over the attack on a lawmaker, Abdulrazak Momoh. Momoh,   whose seat was declared vacant by the assembly in July, was said to have been attacked by thugs on Tuesday after he allegedly ignored the instruction of security men not to enter the legislative quarters. The Peoples Democratic Party lawmaker   was rushed to the Accident and Emergency Ward of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital. Ahead of the February election, the Igbo Community in Lagos has reiterated its commitment to vote en masse for President Goodluck Jonathan, the PDP governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje and other party candidates to ensure the continuity of development and government of inclusiveness.
