The hottest artist in Africa

Is Olamide the hottest artist in Africa? Find out Few days ago, I saw a publication on nairaland which described Olamide as the hottest rapper in Nigeria. The hottest rapper here doesn’t necessarily mean the best rapper as that would take eternity to decide. What this means is that, the hottest rapper is the most accepted, most wanted, most relevant in term of making hit songs and the one who is being higly sort after by others. That is our defination of hottest. In the said publication, the writer listed 5 hot rappers in Nigeria and declared Olamide as the hottest. Other rappers listed along with Olamide include Reminisce, Phyno, Ice Prince and M.I Other commentators who disagreed with the writer quickly draw their own list of the 5 hottest rappers. In all the list made, what was constant in every commentators list was that, every one put Olamide on number one spot. I carefully read through all the lists and no one felt the number spot should go to anyone other artist other than the Baddo himself. I have the opinion that, no one can dare dispute the fact that Olamide is the hottest rapper in Nigeria. That is a done deal for the past one year. However, what i feel is that, apart from being the hottest rapper in Nigeria, there is no question as to wheather Olamide is the hottest rapper in Africa or not. If he his the hottest rapper in Nigeria, certainly, he ought to be declared as the hottest rapper in Africa, as Nigeria takes almost 50% of African rap market when it comes to music consumption. But beyond rappers, I doubt if there is any artist in the continent currently as hot as Olamide. The Olamide movement is beyond the rap world, should we combine all genry of music in the continent, its hard to find any artist as hot as shakiti Boko croner. This is a reality, not myth and I will prove it. Last week, as I watch the MTV top 10 hottest tracks around the world, Olamide’s Shakibobo was on number 4, while Korede Bello’s Godwin was on number 5. In almost every radio station across the country, Shakiti Bobo is the number 1 song in demand. The next in line is Korede Bello’s Godwin. Shakitibobo’s video was only released 2 weeks ago and it now has over 2million downloads as at Friday, 10/07/2015. If you still doubt whether Olamide is the hottest artist in Africa or not, check out the consistency of the Baddest guy ever liveth in making hits after hits and the unlimited features he has amass within a very short while. Yesterday, July 12th, 2015, Olamide PREMIERED yet another single, Lagos Boys (prod. Pheelz). This is a certified hit song even before it reaches the radio stations. But 2 days earlier (July 10, 2015) , Pepenazi – Illegal ft. Olamide was released. This was a song people are already waiting for before its release due to its hype by Olamide. Its certain to rock the street. But 2 days before then (July 8, 2015), another song was released by Rayce ft Olamide, its called Renovation. A day before the release of Renovation (July 7, 2015) was the premiere of Darey Art Alade’s Asiko Laiye ft Olamide. On the same day, the VIDEO of For Body by Sunkanmi –ft. Olamide was also released. We must also remember that, Samklef – Living Large ft Olamide, Shaydee and DJ Xclusive was released a day earlier (July 6, 2015) This should tells us that, only in the month of July which is yet to reach half, Olamide has already released or featured in 6 different tracks. With some already certified as hits. I can assure you that Lagos boy and illegal are certified hit songs. That is the definition

of being hot. If you want to disagree that Olamide is the hottest artist in Africa, you must produce another artist whose song is topping all chart and featuring in more songs than Olamide. Even as you read this article, if turn on your radio, I can assure you that Olamide is the track on play. If its not Shakitibobo, then its melo melo. But beyond the songs released this month, Olamide has been hot all through the year. Apart from releasing a joint Album (2Kings) with Phyno in March, Olamide has featured in countless tracks between march till date. He was featured in Skuki’s – Over The Mountain in june, JJC – Motiwa ft. Olamide ,June, KolaSoul – In My Zone ft. Olamide, June, Skales – Ijo Ayo Video ft. Olamide, June, Sunkanmi’s – For Body ft. Olamide /June,VIDEO: Olamide – Melo Melo /June. Those released in May include Victor Velmo’s Follow My Lead ft Olamide – May, VIDEO: Jahbless – 69 Missed Calls Ft. Olamide, Reminisce, Lil kesh, CDQ & Chinko Ekun /May, Video ‘Local Rappers’ By Reminisce, Olamide And Phyno /May, VIDEO: Olamide – Bobo /May. Viktoh – Instagram Police Ft. Olamide & Small Doctor/May, VIDEO: Dr. Sid – Chop Ogbono (Remix) ft. Olamide /May etc. Olamide is just too hot to have rival at the moment. In my view, there is no other artist in the whole of Africa that is as hot as Olamide at the moment. Although, I hav not been to other countries, but the consistency of Olamide on top is of no rival. Is it about the quantity, or the quality? In both situation, Olamide is best. In term of producing hits after hits, Olamide is of no rival. Let me conclude by saying that, if there another artist hotter than Olamide in the continent at the moment, that artist must be an angel. For me, I wish Olamide well in his hussle.
