Group condemn Kwara Govt over silence on extra judicial killings in Lafiaji

Read the full statement. Kwara Must Change is alarmed by the unfortunate silence of the Kwara State government over the brutal killings of young people in Lafiaji town by trigger happy soldiers at the call of Mr. Sha’aba Lafiaji, a senator representing Kwara North senatorial district. The extra judicial killings claimed 3 lives and many others are still lying in critical conditions. On 17th November 2017, youths protesting against misrepresentation by Sen. Sha’aba Lafiaji were brutally murdered in Lafiaji town, Edu Local Government of Kwara State for demanding accountability. However, since this unfortunate incident happened, there has been no official reaction from either the state or local government. We strongly condemn this conspiracy of silence. The Local Government chairman of Edu Local Government, in whose territory the wicked act took place has not deemed it proper to acknowledge the sad incident that claimed many lives under his watch; neither did the Kwara State

PRESS RELEASE: RE EXTRA-JUDICIAL KILLING OF 4 LAFIAJI YOUTHS BY SEN. SHAABA LAFIAJI, ABUJA – 19TH NOVEMBER 2017. On Friday, 17th November 2017, 4 bright and promising young men were shot dead by soldiers attached to Senator Sha’aba Lafiaji for exercising their fundamental human rights of peaceful protest against the senator over misrepresentation of the people. The Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC) and other security agencies have confirmed the unfortunate killing. The reprehensible occurrence, which led to the brutal execution of defenceless, unarmed and peaceful protesters happened as a result of high level irresponsibility, rascality and lack of maturity, which propelled Senator Muhammed Shaa’aba Lafiaji to order soldiers to execute protesting youths who were merely expressing their disaffection with the senator’s lack of proper representation of the people and we unequivocally condemn the barbaric act of Senator Shaaba Lafiaji and his

A human right lawyer, Barrister Abdulsalam Liberty has rescued 2 innocent youths from prison after years in detention. The young men were abandoned in prison since 4 years ago after they were wrongly accused of armed robbery. No court found them guilty of any crime. A visibly happy lawyer, who represented the duo and freed them from shackles took to social media to share their story. Read the lawyers statement. Today's Happiest Nigerians... Discharged and Acquitted by the Court for the Charge of Armed Robbery. WIP's Executive Director informed me about the predicament of Kabir Shittu and Hammed who were languishing in the prison since 4 years for heavy allegation of Armed Robbery and Possession of Firearm which has not being proven in any court. I met them, heard from them and I was convinced that these guys are innocents and spent years in prison because of lack of legal assistance. We are proud of the fact that we know how to defend the poor and the innocents, I mean th

Nigerian Youths And Their Mentality Of Leadership

"True leadership lies in guiding others to success. In ensuring that everyone is performing at their best, doing the work they are pledged to do and doing it well" —Bill Owens "It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership"—Nelson Mandela Leadership means different things to different people around the world, and different things in different situations. For example, it could relate to community leadership, religious leadership, political leadership, and leadership of campaigning groups, also it can be related to the act of leading a group of people, or an organization, or the ability to do this. However, leadership or leading cannot be completed without followers. Majority of our youth see leading as a very easy activity especially when viewed from a distance and when one hasn't engaged with i
