Okonjo-Iweala Attacks Soludo, Says He Is Nigeria's Worst CBN Governor Ever

The Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on Wednesday took the former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Chukwuma Soludo, to the cleaners over his criticism of President Goodluck Jonathan’s management of the country’s economy, saying his comments amounted to committing “intellectual hara-kiri”. The Minister, who spoke through her Special Adviser on Media, Paul Nwabuikwu, accused Mr. Soludo of single-handedly mismanaging the country’s banking sector between May 2004 and May 2009 and plunging the country into “an incredible accumulation of liabilities that will cost tax payers about N5.67 trillion”. Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala, apparently livid, described the former CBN governor as “an embittered loser in the Nigerian political space” who is “so derailed” to “commit intellectual harakiri by deliberately misquoting economic facts and maliciously turning statistics on their head to justify a hatchet job”. “Soludo has shamelessly pandered to so many past leaders that Nigerians are asking one more time – what position is Soludo gunning for now?” she asked. “There is definitely an issue of character with Prof. Charles Soludo and his desperate search for power and relevance in Nigeria. Nigerians should therefore beware of so-called intellectuals without character and wisdom because this combination is fatal,” she added. ….. Trending video of extrajudicial killings by soldiers unfortunate, says FPP

Foundation for Peace Professionals (FPP) has intercepted a trending and disturbing video online, in which soldiers of the Nigerian army are seen in the video, marching two (2) harmless civilians into a location for execution, over the simple offense of coming out during curfew as heard from one of the soldiers. As the heart breaking video proceeded, the two harmless citizens were seen being gunned down by 3 soldiers who were also celebrating the heinous crime against humanity. In the trending video, the soldiers didn’t just gun down the harmless citizens after leveling all sorts of unsubstantiated allegations against them; they also gunned down their donkeys, firing more than 30 shots in the process. The Nigerian Army on Tuesday publicly released the academic details of former military leader, Muhammadu Buhari, but denied at the same time it could not vouch for the authenticity of his Senior Secondary Examinations results. Speaking to the media, Army Spokesperson, Olajide Laleye, reversed the Army’s earlier position that it had copies of Mr. Buhari’s West African Secondary School Certificate. Mr. Laleye said while military records showed Mr. Buhari obtained the WASC in 1961, with credits in English Language, Geography, History, Health Science, and Hausa, there were neither the original copy nor certified true copy nor statement of result to confirm the grades.
