POLICE ARREST INNOCENT,DEMAND N20,000 FOR RELEASE IN LAGOS

Police from pedro police station in shomolu area of Lagos state on Wednesday arrested an innocent boy for not having ID card,detain him and demanded for N20,000 bail from his parents the next morning.



On 8 .10 . 2014. Mr. Gift left shomolu area of lagos when he was ask to get something at pamgrove at about 9 pm in the evening. Along his way to Pamgrove area, Mr gift was arrested by the men of the Nigerian Police and he was taken to pedro police station.

According to reports sent to Mr.Rights, Officer Joseph, Akpan and Sanni were responsible for his unlawful arrest and according to his brother Sammy who can be reached, he said his brother was arrested for not carrying his ID CARD with him when going out. He was taken to Pedro police station last night sammy said.

Gift's father. Mr. ABRAHAM ADONISI after identifying his boy was asked by police at the station to pay N20,000 bail before he would be released and because his father could not pay such a huge bribe,Gift is still currently under detention at the police station. He has been held since 9pm yesterday to this present moment.

When Mr.rights called the 
CSP. OLALEKAN COKER -DPO SHOMOLU, he romised to comfirm the situation for prompt action.

Mr. Benjamin Amaechi who also told Mr.rights that he called the ACP KEHINDE LONGE of AREA 'H' OGUDU said, the ACP denied the incident.

However, after few hours of the persistent calls by activists and well meaning Nigerians, Mr Gift was released without any bail.

His brother, Mr. Sammy thanked all those who showed concern towards the well being of his brother. END
