The challenge of ending poverty is huge, but with courage, ingenuity, vision and purpose, the goal is within reach. In a tightly choreographed 3.5 hours, TEDxWBG brought together thinkers and leaders from the worlds of business, art, and technology to share experiences and ideas worth spreading across the world.
This first TEDxWBG explored the theme of “Ending Poverty” from multiple viewpoints in three distinct but related sessions.

    FG planning arrest, detention of Lai Mohammed, others —APC

    Opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), on Wednesday, alleged that the Federal Government was planning to use security agencies to rail-road its leaders into detention. It claimed that suspicious summons being planned by security agencies, particularly the Department of State Security Service (DSS), would start with its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed. In a statement issued by the same Mohammed, the party claimed that the DSS and the police were being used to harass and intimidate the opposition with a view to decapitating it ahead the 2015 elections. Some retired senior military officers have warned against the postponement of the February general elections to avoid military takeover of the administration of the country. They warned that the postponement might lead to anarchy in the country, which, according to them, may lead to military intervention.     Bayelsa Governor ban Goodluck re-election groups in Bayelsa

    Apparently miffed by the activities of various groups promoting the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan and other candidates, Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson has banned the activities of Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN and other groups in the state. A statement signed by Daniel Iwariso-Markson, Chief Press Secretary to the governor, claimed that the groups were only brewing crisis in Bayelsa. “Those claiming to be campaigning for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan but are instead engaged in promoting subversive activities and inciting crisis and division within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state will have to move their activities elsewhere,” it said.     Ahead of the February election, the Igbo Community in Lagos has reiterated its commitment to vote en masse for President Goodluck Jonathan, the PDP governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje and other party candidates to ensure the continuity of development and government of inclusiveness.
