Lagos Has over 1 Million HIV/AIDS Patients

FIVE out of every 100 people in Lagos is living with HIV and AIDS, the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) stated yesterday.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Tokunbo Dabiri, explained that the high ratio is not unconnected to the large population of the state.

She spoke at the World AIDS Day programme in Lagos organised by LSACA.

Describing Lagos State as cosmopolitan, Dabiri added that it its also the melting pot accounting for about 21 million inhabitants. “This is why the disease is common in the state,” she noted.

She urged residents, who have not been tested to do so to confirm their status, adding: “The statistics the state is presently working with is 5.1 per cent. It can be more if we all know our status. The national figure, however, is 3.4 per cent.”

A leader of the Middle Belt Forum, Air Commodore Dan Suleiman (Rtd) has said that the Forum will stick to its earlier endorsement of the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Trust (PT) for the 2019 election, Mr. GBENGA Olawepo-Hashim. The wind of Otoge movement (Enough is Enough) in Kwara State is currently blowing all across Nigeria to an extent that other opposition states in the country are adopting the slogan to advance their quest for freedom and political emancipation. NANS admit Open University Student body as member

The Senate Arm of the Nigeria Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has approved the Membership Status of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) vide Congress of NOUN Students on a full blown structure of NANS the CONS Public relation officer, Comrade A.L Oyetoro has said. Comrade Oyetoro declared that, this was stated in the communique released and signed by the NANS Senate President Comr. Taiwo Bamigbade, Mohammed Saba (Chairman Comminque Drafting Committee) and Comr. A. Kola (Secretary Comminque Drafting Committee) after the 74th Senate Meeting / Pre-Convention held in Minna, Niger State. The Guild of Professional Bloggers of Nigeria has urged all stakeholders in the coming elections to play by the rules and ensure free and fair elections nationwide.
