Kwara inspired Otoge takes over Nigeria
The wind of Otoge movement (Enough is Enough) in Kwara State is currently blowing all across Nigeria to an extent that other opposition states in the country are adopting the slogan to advance their quest for freedom and political emancipation.
After the 2015 election, Leading Pro-Democracy group in Kwara popularly known as Kwara Must Change (KMC) has been leading the charge to liberate Kwara State from oppression and the grip of Bukola Saraki led dynasty.
The group, along with others did a lot in terms of creating massive sensitization and the result is the unrivaled awareness of the people of Kwara, giving birth to the OTOGE movement.
Since the adoption of OTOGE as the slogan by All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kwara State, the ruling dynasty has been running here and there to slow down the unstoppable growth of the opposition, but like a moving train, the OTOGE movement is unstoppable until victory is attained.
At first, it was just Kwarans in different state of the federation that are joining the political revolution back home by hosting their own rally in their respective states of residence such as Lagos, Kaduna, Abuja, Portharcourt and others.
However, the potency of OTOGE (Enough is Enough) has now moved beyond Kwara and Kwarans alone. Other states are now adopting the Kwara inspired OTOGE as a political slogan to signify the resolution of their people to take over their states.
In Delta State for example, analysts argued that, it is no longer about ‘whether APC and Chief Great Ogboru can deliver’; it is now about the ‘quality of what Ogboru will deliver to the good people of Delta State’.
In a recent article titled Otoge land in Delta, Constitutional Lawyer, Felix Eshalomi stated that the whirlwind of ‘OTOGE’ rents the air all over Nigeria; a chant meaning ‘Enough is Enough’ popularised by Kwara State APC governorship candidate Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
A taste of something new; something better; something refined – Ogboru offers all and tops it up with a taste of quality. Therefore in Delta State, we also say ‘Enough is Enough’ OTOGE! He said.
While Deltans are chanting OTOGE, despite being a non-Yoruba speaking state, Gombe State in North East also joined the OTOGE chanting state to express their solidarity with Kwara eminent freedom.
As Kwarans prepare for this historic victory against political oppression of the Saraki dynasty, I foresee a future where OTOGE shall be the reference point of every state of the federation in their quest for political victory emancipation.
Abdulrazaq O Hamzat is the president of Kwara Must Change
