17 human right abuses by President Goodluck Jonathan

17 major human right abuses have been identified under President Goodluck Jonathan's administration by the Kaduna based human and civil rights activist, Comrade Shehu Sani and the activist believes that on this reason, Nigerians shouldn't vote Goodluck Jonathan if he stand as a candidate in 2015.
In a statement released to the public by the president Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria, Shehu Sani identified and listed 17 prevailing human rights abuses and violations under the federal government which he said are increasing by the day under the administration.

According to him, the worsening human rights violations under the Jonathan’s administration include, brutal prosecution of anti terror war that includes arbitrary arrests, violation of privacy, unlawful detention and prolonged detention, systematic execution of suspects and policy of collective punishment, cruel use of security apparatus of the state to intimidate university teachers and brutally suppress their right to protest as evidenced in university of Abuja and Bayero university kano, repressive crackdown on the leadership of the G7 Governors; denying them their right to freedom of assembly and persistent threats to demolish offices and residence used for such gatherings.
Others reasons mentioned by the veteran activists include, withdrawal of security details from entitled elected public office holders for expressing dissenting views., perpetuating the presence of the military on the streets and the misuse of such institution to molest, intimidate, traumatize and humiliate Nigerians at check points, escalating incidences of arbitrary arrests, search and detentions by non civil forces., use of political party machinery to blackmail, intimidate and emasculate critical political voices, deliberate indifference of the federal government to threats of secession and sabotage by active and ex militants in the Niger Delta, consistent use of the police to intimidate opposing politicians and subvert the meetings of dissenting PDP G7 governors. Shehu Sani further listed other reasons to include, Security attack against newly employed school teachers in Port Harcourt Rivers state, Increasing use of security excuses to deny Nigerians the right to protest, use of sponsored machineries in form of youths and women groups to defame and malign critics of the Government, grounding and threats of decertification of planes used by dissenting states Governors, unlawful demolition of houses on security grounds, arbitrary and massive deportation of Nationals of other African nations on security grounds, sacking of ministers for political reasons and persistent threats of ‘expulsion from the party’ against federal legislators with opposing views.
