People’s Trust Hashim Condemns Violence in Kwara, calls for peace

As the 2019 general election approaches, People’s Trust (PT) presidential candidate, Mr.Gbenga Olawepo Hashim has condemned all forms of violence ahead of the election and urged political leaders in Kwara state to remain peace and law abiding.

The 3rd force presidential candidate who expressed worry over reoccurring reports of political violence in Kwara State,called on politicians to desist from inciting and empowering political thugs in
the state.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press secretary, Hassan Ibrahim over the
weekend, Olawepo Hashim noted that Kwara is known as the state of harmony and the peaceful nature of the state should not be jeopardized over the quest for political power.

According to him, ‘’the struggle for power is not worth the life of any Kwaran or Nigerian,” adding that, Kwarans have suffered enough and do not deserve to be subjected to unnecessary violence.

‘’2019 election is not a war of guns and bullet, but an opportunity to choose leaders that would lead the people from poverty to prosperity’’. He said

Hashim advised political parties in Kwara State to conduct their campaigns strictly based on issues to avoid needless waste of lives and destruction of properties.

The residents of Aiyelabegan Compound in Agbaji District of Okemale Area in Ilorin has called on the Emir of Ilorin Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari and the various security agencies in Kwara state to call the supporters of Senate President Bukola Saraki to maintain the peace for which its neighbourhood has always been known for. Kwara worker commit suicide over unpaid salaries

A staff of Universal basic education (UBE) in Kwara state has reportedly committed suicide over unpaid salaries. The news was broken by a group, Kwara Must Change which said it regretted to bring to public attention, the death of Mr Biodun Bashir, a staff of Universal Basic Education (UBE) in Kwara State at Oyun Local Government, who recently hung himself to death over failure of Kwara State Government to pay workers salaries and their continues denial of owing workers. Locals fetching dirty water at a river in Maigida ward, Moro Local Govt Area of Kwara State Kwara Must Change demand explanation on why Ex- Kwara governor, Bukola Saraki and current Governor Abdulfatai Ahmed spent almost N8Billion on water project in 16 years without any result. In 2003, Bukola Saraki awarded a water contract of N2.3Billion and Governor Abdulfatai Ahmed also added another N5billion immediately he took over. We need an explanation, on why the people of Kwara State have to endlessly continue endure so much hardship, pain and suffering due to government inability to provide basic necessity such as water. Water is a necessity of life and its provision is a basic responsibility of all responsible government. Experts have told us that many water borne diseases can be prevented with availability of portable water to improve hygiene and healthy living, but unfortunately, the health of all Kwarans have been exposed to preventable diseases as a result of lack of water.
