Oba Of Benin's Challenge To Islam and Christianity

Oba of Benin Kingdom, Oba Akenzua N'Iso n'orro II, who reigned between 1933 – 1978 after the death of Eweka II, threw a challenge to the so called religious people of the world, particularly Christianity and Islam.
The Oba challenged them to give him one reason, why he should abandon the Benin religion in favor of any other religion.

He said:
"I would rather serve my God in the Benin way;I would rather worship him in the Benin manner; I will sing songs of praise to him in the Benin custom;Unless it can be proven to me that he does not understand the Benin language"

No person has been able to respond to this challenge 40 years after the Oba died.

I am now throwing back this challenge to each and everyone of us so as to engage in a real intellectual debate over our faith and religion.

Can you please challenge the notion that, "I would rather serve my God in the Benin way;I would rather worship him in the Benin manner; I will sing songs of praise to him in the Benin custom;Unless it can be proven to me that he does not understand the Benin language".

It was revealed that, going by the media reports in 1994, the Rwandan genocide was often portrayed as a conflict based on ancient hatred between people who had been killing each other in such a manner for hundreds of years. However,those media reports were greatly misleading and proved incorrect after critical analysis. Hutu and Tutsi were not ethnic groups, but economic/political class divide. Bayelsa Governor ban Goodluck re-election groups in Bayelsa

Apparently miffed by the activities of various groups promoting the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan and other candidates, Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson has banned the activities of Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN and other groups in the state. A statement signed by Daniel Iwariso-Markson, Chief Press Secretary to the governor, claimed that the groups were only brewing crisis in Bayelsa. “Those claiming to be campaigning for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan but are instead engaged in promoting subversive activities and inciting crisis and division within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state will have to move their activities elsewhere,” it said. Corps Member Builds & Tests Drone In Osun

Osun State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Titi Laoye-Tomori, among other dignitaries, watched in admiration how a drone built by a corps member posted to Osun State took off and carried out surveillance of the parade ground at the Permanent Orientation Camp of the National Youth Service Corps on Monday. The corps member, Olaolu Ayoola, a graduate of Computer Science/ Engineering of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, stole the show with his project during the closing ceremony of the orientation course for the 2014 batch ‘C’ of corps members deployed in the state. The drone, which soldiers and other security agents present at the event described as a good one, flew for about 10 minutes before it landed. At the genesis of the hijab discussion, the Quran commands men to not stare at women and to not be promiscuous. The Quran 24:31 obliges men to observe modesty: “Say to the believing men that they restrain their eyes and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Surely, Allah is well aware of what they do.” This verse rebukes forced laws on women that claim “women must cover otherwise men are distracted”. It demolishes complaints that what a woman is wearing is “too provocative”, whatever that means, because it flat out forbids men from gawking at women.
