KWARA STUDENTS ACCUSE GOVERNOR’S AID,DISSOLVE NAKSS EXCO, APPOINT ACTING COMMITTEE


Mr.rights have learnt that, A female student from Kwara State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Lady comrade Latifat Adio has emerged acting president of the National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS) National headquarters. The announcement was made today by the student congress in ilorin, the kwara state capital.

In a communique released by the student congress and signed by the presidents of the three (3) student senatorial apex bodies which make up the association, Comrade MEMUD ALABI OLOBI, President, Federation of Kwara South Students, SEN.ALABURO M SHERIFDEEN,President, National Association of Emirate Students, Comr. ABDULRAHMAN SANI SIDI, President, NUKABA Kwara North,the student congress said, ’In other to avoid breakdown of law and order and with the power saddled on the congress, it therefore declared that the expired administration of NAKSS NHQ led by Muyideen Ajadi is hereby dissolved with immediate effect.
‘’An acting executive led by lady comrade Latifat Adio shall henceforth act as the legitimate head of the association’’
‘’The acting executive in collaboration with the 3 senatorial student bodies ‘’National Emirate, Federation of Kwara South Students and NUKABA Kwara North’’ shall within 21 to 30 days, conduct a credible election to usher in new leadership for the association.’’ ‘’They shall set-up the electoral body in partnership with the legitimate senators to swear in the electoral committee.’’ It said.
The congress which was held on 29th October, 2014 at the Kwara State College of education, Ilorin also accused the Special assistant to Kwara state Governor, Mr. Patrick Adewumi of conniving with the expired administration to unconstitutionally elongate their tenure, causing crisis within the student circle.
The congress added that, the special assistant on student affairs to the Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatai Ahmed, Mr. Patrick Adewunmi rather than work to maintain peace among students,choose to promote conflict which may threaten the peaceful nature of the state of harmony and destabilize the government.
‘’He (Patrick) had shown with his role in this violation that, he lack understanding of his duties and responsibilities as a special assistant, as he assume upon himself, an imposing authority over legitimate students by setting up a kangaroo electoral committee and inaugurating them in his office. It said.
They urge the kwara state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatai Ahmed to call Mr. Patrick to order to avoid break down of law and order.
According to the release, ‘’on 5th of July 2013, the previous administration led by Comrade Muyideen Ajadi was sworn in by Barrister Olateju Kayode Taofeeq at the Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC) office in Ilorin and by 4th July 2014, their tenured lapsed and the administration became invalid. However, months after months, the teeming kwara students home and abroad had been waiting for election to usher in new executives to no avail. The invalid administration continue to parade themselves as leadership of the association in violation of the constitution.

‘’Additionally, members of the expired administration which include its president and others are no longer students. Many of them had since graduated from school,yet refused to vacate office for selfish reasons.’’
The student congress urged the public to avoid any engagement with the former exco’s , adding that they had seize to be members of the association, they are no longer students. No individual or organization should accord them any attention as regard the activities of our association, they no longer represent us. It said.
It urged the security agencies to be alerted that all the association properties in their custody should be handed over to the new legitimate leadership with immediate effect.
