5 facts about O TO GE slogan and the collapse of Saraki's dynasty

Image
Kwara Must Change 1. Alh. LAK Jimoh was the first politician in modern history of Kwara state to use the O TO GE slogan in a campaign. O TO GE simply means, Enough is Enough.  Alhaji Jimoh first used the slogan in 2011 when he was contesting the Kwara Central Senatorial seat under the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Bukola Saraki eventually won the ticket and went ahead to represent Kwara Central at the Senate.  While the slogan wasn't popular at the time, there's no taking away the fact that Alh LAK Jimoh used it first and could be rightly credited to be the originator. 2. 8 years later, the slogan idea was pitched again in 2018 immediately after the All Progressive Congress primary election in Kwara State. After the APC primary election, Islamic singer, Aminat Obirere produced a song titled o to ge as part of a joint album coordinated by Kwara Must Change to promote the candidature of APC governorship candidate, Alh. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. The album itself was titled ...

2019: Between Olawepo Hashim, Buhari and Atiku

Image
There is a wise saying that goes thus, "only foolish people take the same action that has consistently failed them and expect positive outcome". Nigeria today is at a crossroad, no thanks to the incompetent and failed leadership of the political elites that have been taking turns among themselves to enslave Nigerians since 1999, I mean both the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressive Congress. These two parties and their candidates, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and President Muhammadu Buhari respectively, have been going about spending public funds to convince Nigerians to vote them in the February 16 Presidential election even though they both have damaged antecedents and they naturally should be begging a judge to reduce their jail terms if it were in saner climes. Atiku Abubakar was Vice President for 8 years and was notorious for looting everything he came in contact with, including funds for Petroleum Development Trust Fund. His colleague in looting and American Co...

Image
Immediately one steps into Kwara State, either through Kogi State, Osun State, Oyo State, Niger State or even through Benin Republic, the first thing that stirs you in the face is ‘’O TO GE’’, the All Progressive Congress (APC) popular shibboleth that has sent the name Saraki into sudden Lethe in Kwara State. The slogan ‘’O to ge’’ literally means, ‘’Enough is Enough’’. It was adopted by Kwara State chapter of All Progressive Congress (APC) as a representation of the feelings and resolve of the people to end Saraki dynasty in 2019 general election and even before the election, it appeared the game is over for Bukola Saraki, as the slogan has sent the name Saraki into oblivion. Unlike in the past, when Saraki would be the dominant name ahead of the election. In Kwara today, the only name being heard is Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and his O to ge slogan. Observers maintained that, in the past few months, life has not remained the same for the Senate President, as his clench and girth...

The recently released list of political parties to participate in the 2019 Presidential debate by the Nigerian Elections Debate Group (NEDG), Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON) and Channels Television is a far cry from what is expected from a body that is expected to be neutral and independent. The vibrant Peoples Trust (PT) is one of the 28 newly registered political parties and the party is fielding frontline presidential candidate, Mr Olawepo Hashim. In the recently released list of political parties fielding candidates for the 2019 general elections, the list of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) indicated that Peo...

Image
Following news report about a call, by APC elders that Prof Oba Abdulraheem, one of the aggrieved governorship aspirant be sanctioned over perceived anti party remarks, Kwara Must Change call on the party elders to avoid going that route. Kwara Must Change believes that, if previous reconciliation effort didn't pacify the aggrieved aspirant, more dialogue should be explored to ensure all aggrieved individuals are properly carried along. YOU CANNOT REAP WHERE YOU DID NOT SOW: A MESSAGE TO FELA DUTOYE AND HIS CO-TRAVELERS.

Image
Dr Jay Samuel YO I first met Fela Durotoye, FD as he is popularly called in August of 2017. This meeting was brokered by Pastor Jim Bent who was introduced to me by Naseer Daura the erstwhile Interim National Secretary of ANN. I later found out that Jim and Daura have been friends from their days in the Nigerian Military School. My meeting with FD took place in my hotel room at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel. This meeting that I thought would be a one-hour exploratory discussion to my amazement, started at 8pm and ended at well past midnight! After that meeting I was perplexed trying to make sense of all what we discussed. Two things that I could take away from that meeting was that FD wanted to court my friendship as a way of guaranteeing the ANN ticket and that he believes he is on a spiritual journey that had been ordained by God so he set out to bamboozle me with all sorts of revelations and prophesies to make me have no choice than to offer the ANN ticket to him right th...
