Shiite Killings: Citizens Against Humanity

Image
I have come to the very sad conclusions that, majority of Nigerian citizens are worse than their leaders. Maybe not so worse, but a true reflection of our leaders. When our leaders do evil, that even satan (the condemned one) often try hard to compete with, we justify the evil and even commend it. What that means is that, if given the opportunity, majority of us will do the same or worse. If given the chance, majority of us will create greater poverty in this country than we currently experience as the poverty capital of the world. If given the opportunity, we would act with greater impunity and tyranny. We will kill as much people as we desire and bring as much hardship on our people. If in the position of slight advantage, we will oppress the weak, downgrade the poor and deny everyone of what is rightfully theirs. This is the reality we have been shying away from over the years. We do not want to believe that we are all part of the problem, but indeed, we are a reflecti...

Trending video of extrajudicial killings by soldiers unfortunate, says FPP

Image
Foundation for Peace Professionals (FPP) has intercepted a trending and disturbing video online, in which soldiers of the Nigerian army are seen in the video, marching two (2) harmless civilians into a location for execution, over the simple offense of coming out during curfew as heard from one of the soldiers. As the heart breaking video proceeded, the two harmless citizens were seen being gunned down by 3 soldiers who were also celebrating the heinous crime against humanity. In the trending video, the soldiers didn’t just gun down the harmless citizens after leveling all sorts of unsubstantiated allegations against them; they also gunned down their donkeys, firing more than 30 shots in the process. We regret to say that this gruesome extra-judicial killings of innocent citizens is unfortunate and unacceptable, as it is counterproductive to our quest for peace and justice This unfortunate exposure came out barely a week after the International Criminal Court (ICC) accused th...

North East: Olawepo Hashim urges politicians not to politicize national security

Image
Frontline Presidential Candidate, Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has called on politicians to rise above partisan fray in their reactions to the recent killings of Nigeria troops in the Northeast region. Instead of politicizing the sad event, the candidate, regarded as a third force in emerging political calculations rather called for a cross-party, consensual approach in dealing with the national scourge, according to a statement signed by his Spokesman, Mr. Hassan Ibrahim. The upbeat candidate, who was lately endorsed by women in the Southwest region, stressed that it was time politicians desist from matters that could affect national security. “National security” he noted “is not supposed to be a partisan issue. It is a matter for the collective, because if there is no security, there cannot be politics and nationhood” Visibly moved, Olawepo-Hashim regretted the killings of Nigerian troops, observing that the troops were heroes who laid their lives protecting their fatherlan...
