2019: Between Olawepo Hashim, Buhari and Atiku

Image
There is a wise saying that goes thus, "only foolish people take the same action that has consistently failed them and expect positive outcome". Nigeria today is at a crossroad, no thanks to the incompetent and failed leadership of the political elites that have been taking turns among themselves to enslave Nigerians since 1999, I mean both the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressive Congress. These two parties and their candidates, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and President Muhammadu Buhari respectively, have been going about spending public funds to convince Nigerians to vote them in the February 16 Presidential election even though they both have damaged antecedents and they naturally should be begging a judge to reduce their jail terms if it were in saner climes. Atiku Abubakar was Vice President for 8 years and was notorious for looting everything he came in contact with, including funds for Petroleum Development Trust Fund. His colleague in looting and American Co...

Image
Presidential candidate of People’s Trust (PT) in the scheduled February 16 election, Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has called on the General Abdulsalami Abubakar-led National Peace Committee and the Nigeria Judicial Council (NJC) to intervene and amicably resolve the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen, in order to avert political and constitutional crises. Olawepo-Hashim made the call against the backdrop of the combative and intransigent position taken by President Muhammadu Buhari who last Friday acted on a black market ex-parte order procured at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) to suspend Onnoghen and swear in his stead Justice Tanko Mohammed as acting CJN. He said in an interview on Monday in Abuja that all presidential candidates, including President Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, were made to sign a peace, which among others, was to ensure peace before and after the election. Olawepo-Hashim, however, lamented that the suspension of ...

BON's fraudulent Presidential Debate and APC hatchet job - Mr Rights

Image
The recently released list of political parties to participate in the 2019 Presidential debate by the Nigerian Elections Debate Group (NEDG), Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON) and Channels Television is a far cry from what is expected from a body that is expected to be neutral and independent. The neutrality of the debate organizers were called to question, after the third force presidential candidate, Mr Olawepo Hashim of the People’s Trust (PT) was surprisingly omitted from the list of participants, in favor of little active Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) and Young Democratic Party (YDP). The vibrant Peoples Trust (PT) is one of the 28 newly registered political parties and the party is fielding frontline presidential candidate, Mr Olawepo Hashim. In the recently released list of political parties fielding candidates for the 2019 general elections, the list of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) indicated that Peo...

Image
Frontline Presidential Candidate, Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has accused the two dominant parties, the All Progressive Party (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of playing politics with the nation’s stability through the way and manner they are handling the electoral act. The candidate running on the platform of the People’s Trust (PT) and regarded as a third force in the build up to the February presidential elections stressed that rather than presenting themselves as statesmen, the candidates are rather obsessed with immediate partisan gains. He told reporters at an interactive session in Lagos while reacting to the president’s refusal to give accent to the electoral act, which he said was passed by the PDP controlled National Assembly, that the supposed top actors are falling below standards. The other 70 candidates were far behind the three leading candidates especially on Facebook engagements where the bulk of Nigerians voters are known to be actively involved. In an audio record widely circulated on social media during the week, Saraki was heard telling his supporters that he spent between N200million to 400million in 30 states of the federation to sponsor election of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015. In defense of Abba Kyari by Abdulrazaq O Hamzat

Image
The integrity of Nigerian state has been questioned and all its security agencies including Department of State Security (DSS), Nigeria Police and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are on public trial. Whether they would pass this test is left to the current administration. In particular, the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government which prided itself as an anti-corruption administration is on trial in public glare and the whole world is watching to see, if the integrity of this great nation will be protected or shattered on the basis of personal interest and loyality. During the weekend, I watched a video of popular human right radio program, Brekete family anchored by Ahmad Issa, the ordinary president. The segment in question was the continuation of a fraud case, allegedly involving Abba Kyari, chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari. The matter in question also involves allegation of impunity, human right violation and high level criminality perpetrated b...

Our love for impunity stinks by Abdulrazaq Hamzat

Image
Evidences after evidence has proven that, most Nigerians love impunity committed by their friends, their tribal people, their religious circle and political affiliates. No matter how unjust such impunity is, they will always find a way to defend and justify it. However, majority Nigerians disgust impunity done by people not in their good circle, be it ethnic, regional or political. Their reason for hating such impunity is not because they hate impunity or sympathize with the victim, but because they want to cast the perpetrator in dark light for whatever reason. Two important events that happened this week reconfirm some opinions that claimed that Nigerians are not really ready to have a better country. Once again, we held tight our chains and declare our love for impunity, without feeling any sense of responsibility or remorse. Few days ago, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) conducted an election to chose new sets of leaders. An election, which was suppo...

Saraki, Kwara Govt emboldened thugs to live crimal life- PDP

Image
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has alleged that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Kwara State government embolden political thugs to live criminal life. This position was made by the PDP Chairman in Kwara State, Chief Iyiola Akogun Oyedepo while responding to question during interview with Punch. Asked if President Muhammadu Buhari was victimizing Saraki and Governor Ahmed through the police by linking them to the Offa robbery, Chief Oyedepo stated that, the police did not induce the Offa armed robbery suspects to make confessions against Dr. Bukola Saraki. We must be objective in all our analysis or presentation on this matter “We should not tell lies against anybody . The grievances of the nPDP are not the same thing with the criminal allegations levelled against the Senate President and the governor. “If they are pursuing their demands within their party without any link tocrime, nobody will accuse them of committing any crime. Their nPDP activ...

10 reasons why President Buhari Must Act on Corruption in MDAs

Image
1. MDAs forces people to be corrupt The most corrupt and terrible places for corruption in Nigeria are the federal ministries, departments and agencies. A simple transaction that should take a day or two, could take several months if you do not go around to ‘see’ those who should move file from one desk to the other. #BuhariMustAct to stop it 2. MDAs waste govt resources on bogus projects Nigerian Ministries, Agencies and Departments, MDAs, waste an estimated N37.8 billion due to bogus and failed IT projects. Most agencies of government see projects as the easiest way to steal government money. About 90 per cent of MDAs’ IT projects fail annually while the remaining 10 said to be successfully implemented does not deliver any value for money for the government. #BuhariMustAct 3. The racket of ghost workers Federal Government lost more than N120Billion annually on ghost workers. The figure will definitely increase as government continues to unravel more ghost workers buried dee...

IBB debunks statement on President Buhari

IBB DEBUNKS STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT BUHARI My attention has been drawn to a report making rounds especially online in which I was quoted as advising Nigerians not to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari in the coming 2019 election. Not only is the said statement untrue, it is in its entirety, an inaccurate representation of my view of the state of our dear Nation. As a former President and an elder statesman, I have existing communication channels through which I reach out to President Muhammadu Buhari on topical issues of national importance, should there be the need so to do. The media, both online or mainstream and indeed the unsuspecting public are advised to disregard such false reports. Thank you and God Bless you all. Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (Rtd) (GCFR) Former Military President Federal Republic of Nigeria Hilltop Mansion Minna, Niger state. 4th February 2018

IBB support OBJ, urges President Buhari to step down

Image
The dust raised by an open letter by former President Olusegun Obasanjo is yet to settle and the nation has been hit with another bomb shell from another ex-president, Ibrahim Babangida, who has also advised President Muhammadu Buhari to step down after his first tenure in 2019. IBB in the statement signed on his behalf by his spokesman, Prince Kassim Afegbua said it was a thing of irony that the country that himself and other Nigerians fought to keep together is daily being drawn to the seems by the flow of blood across the land. Full Statement “In the past few months and weeks, I have played host to many concerned Nigerians who have continued to express legitimate and patriotic worry about the state of affairs in the country. Some of them have continued to agonize about the turn of events and expressly worried why we have not gotten our leadership compass right as a country with so much potential and opportunity for all. Some, out of frustration, have elected to interrogate t...
